And Now, For Something Completely Different

I have a Warhammer problem, and I'm not afraid to admit it. It has become all consuming. Please, send help.

Anyway, work continues on book two, as well as a couple little side projects that I've been dabbling in just to try some new ideas out. That being said, with November just around the corner, I'm going to be trying my hand at participating in National Novel Writing Month. If you don't know what that is, the idea is to write a 50,000 word novel during November. Pretty simple, yet difficult in practice. I'll only have myself to keep myself accountable, and the only goal is knowing that I can do it. I'm pretty sure I can, and I've already got an outline for the story I want to write, thanks to ideas from my friends. All I have to do is set milestones for myself and keep myself honest. I'm excited, and if things go well, maybe I'll try to get it published? Thoughts for later though.

As for the actual plot, without going too deep (spoiler warning!), the elevator pitch idea is this: a witch learns magic and tries to protect her little village from ever increasing problems, but she's rather clumsy, so her cat familiar starts sacrificing its nine lives in order to keep her alive. I plan on pulling some heartstrings with this one, and in more ways than one. It'll be a bit of a challenge for me, as most of my writing can be summed up with one word; edgy. For this one, I'm definitely shooting for a much more wholesome and emotionally complex story, while also having plenty of levity and fun with the characters. No brooding allowed. I already have the entire plot planned out, and I think the components will be rather compelling, so here's hoping they actually are. I wanted to try writing something different than what I normally do, but still in the fantasy wheelhouse that I'm well versed in. Familiar territory, but a new path, if you will.

Doing some basic clown math, I'll need to write 1,666.666666666666666667 words per day to finish in 30 days. So, let's say 1,700 for brevity. 11,900 per week. I think I can do that? I probably can. I've done something similar before, but I was in a mood, so it was easy. I guess we'll see if I can tap back into that Ultra Instinct version of myself that was spewing out words like a word press once more. Y'all wish me luck!

I'll be posting regular updates every Friday here with excerpts for everyone to preview, as well as to keep myself accountable. I haven't fully settled on a title yet, but I'll try to have one decided by the actual start of the month. Since I'll be breaking my fingers to keep my pace up, the updates themselves will likely be pretty short, and I'll also likely skip the regularly scheduled post this time next month. When it's done, on the 30th, I'll be sure to post the entire novel here on my site (need to figure out how to do that too), or maybe just have a link to it pinned somewhere. I'll figure that out later. I'm excited though! I have a lot of fun ideas and fun characters planned out, and getting them from brain to screen will be the real challenge.

I think that'll do it for this month. Less insight, more update. Hope y'all enjoy the upcoming story, and you'll hear from me again in just a week!
