Slow but Steady

So I held a book signing earlier this month. That was kind of wild. To everyone who showed up and gave me their support, I cannot express how much that meant to me. I will be forever grateful to all of those who think that the semi-random assortment of words and phrases I put into a bound book are worth their time, much less their money. It was the first time I've ever done something like that purely for myself, and for something I made. Hopefully there'll be more in the future, but as of right now, calendar's looking empty. That's fine though. I don't like being busy.

In other news, work on book two is progressing at a steady rate. I'm taking my time, but trying to keep a good writing schedule so that I can meet my arbitrary deadline of [REDACTED], so we'll see if that works. I'm having a lot of fun expanding on the characters, their motivations, and the people that may have been affected by their actions. Even though I want book two to be larger in both scope and scale, I still want the focus to be on the individual characters and how events play out through their eyes. Personally, I find solid character writing to be far more impactful on a work of fiction than a huge branching narrative, but hopefully I can do both at least somewhat well. There might be some twists and turns that some of you will see coming, and hopefully some that no one does.

I'm also going to start posting 'content' on everyone's favorite app, TikTok here soon. I feel like doing so is a betrayal of every shred of morality I have left in my anime-rotten bones, but I can't expect to win the game of marketing if I don't even try to play it. If you come across my posts, feel free to judge them accordingly. I take no pleasure in doing what must be done, but should the ends justify the means, I will surrender my personal data if it gets more books in people's hands. Just don't call me a sellout yet. Wait until I'm shilling for BookTok recommendations for that illustrious title.

I guess that's it for this month. To be honest, I've had my nose to the grindstone working on some side hobbies (Warhammer 40K), and that's been sucking all of my free time away. Its incredibly rewarding, but I will admit that its a very costly and time consuming affair. Still, it brings me joy, so I'll keep at it until I inevitably run out of funds to continue. If you've read this far, you have my gratitude. These inane ramblings of mine are somewhat cathartic, so I'll keep doing them until I either 1) Totally forget to do them, or 2) Die tragically in a completely avoidable bullet train accident somewhere in Europe. Calling my shot now. Until next month,

Make your own fate
